Woodcut Print with a very long title!

Cryptic Petroglyph* (CWC III) *Woops, it's not a Petroglyph but an Ancient Rock Painting

Limited Edition of 14

9 5/8 " high x 20 1/4" wide on thin white Japanese Paper

©1972, Susan Herman (Lily S. May's former married name)

This print started as one of a series of colour studies. "CWC" stands for cool, warm contrast.

The long title comes from petroglyphs--old carvings in rock--that I saw when I was in the Virgin Islands. While carving this woodcut, I thought of them and of images of ancient rock paintings I had seen.
